Dec 23 - First Day
Happy first day of break! I'm sure many of you decided to catch up on sleep or did nice things with your families. I spent much of my day getting ready for Christmas. It's an important day of the year for my family. I finished shopping, wrapped presents, and even made some more cookies. Guess what else I found time for? READING!
I have to admit that I haven't done a lot of reading for fun since the school year started. We've been doing so much in class that I've been in the groove of reading for literature circles, but too tired to do much more. It's something I'd really like to make more time for when we return to school.
This break I hope to read three books. I wanted to finish a book I recently started, called Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, start and finish Eleven by Tom Rogers, and get a good start on The Martian by Andy Weir.
So today I read my John Green book. I know some of you are familiar with his stories. John Green has written Paper Towns and The Fault In Our Stars. I've read some of his other books too, such as Looking for Alaska and An Abundance of Katherines. My favorite so far has been Paper Towns.
I have been waiting for him to write a new book, so I was excited to start this one. Like Paper Towns, this book is a bit of an adventure story featuring a teenage main character. Turtles All the Way Down has a female protagonist (main character) who is on the search for a missing billionaire. This guy just happens to be her neighbor and the father of a childhood friend of hers.
The plot definitely intrigued me and I knew I enjoyed the author. That's why I decided to read this book. Why have you decided to read the book that you've chosen?
Until tomorrow,
Ms. Burke
