December 24 - Christmas Eve (and a Bills win... hopefully)

My post today won't be too long. I've got lots to do with my family. I'm starting by watching  the Bills game. Let's hope our hometown team can pull one off today! After that, I go to my Aunt Mary's house to celebrate with my family.

Today's post is going to focus on an important theme in my book, Turtles All the Way Down. The importance of friendship is something that I've already picked up on even though I'm only about a quarter of the way through the book. This isn't too surprising to me for two reasons. First, I am familiar with the author's work and I know this is a common theme that John Green includes in his books. Second, with teenage characters, this is to be expected. There is no time in one's life where friendship is more important than during adolescence.

In this particular book, Aza is a bit of an outsider. Her father has passed away and she suffers from some odd habits. Her lifelong friend, Daisy, sticks by her no matter what. She also rediscovers an old friendship with Russell. In yesterday's post I talked a little about the plot, which focuses on finding Russell's father. He is a missing billionaire who is wanted by the police. Aza and Daisy want to find this man, so they visit Russell. Aza is starting to remember how important her friendship with Russell once was. There is also a hint that some romance is blooming between the two!

What sort of themes (or lessons that either you or the main characters learn) are in your book? What kinds of big ideas are included that help to keep you interested?

  1. Well, in my book, Alexander Hamilton came from a really horrible placew and he had to work really hard to get where he wanted to be, in between that he had to take care of his wife, and 8 children, but he did have some bad mistakes along the way, like cheating on his wife then after being accused of speculation, Hamilton writes the Reynolds Pamphlet and humiliates his wife. soon after that, his first son gets killed in a duel that was held in Hamilton's Honor.

the lesson is that you can't just take the easy and short way with no mistakes, you have to take the hard and long way with many mistakes but it will get you where you want to be.
